Private Operators Call For 12-Hour Bandh, Not To Ply Buses In Puri Tomorrow
Puri: Following the death of a driver, private bus operators here have called for 12-hour bandh on Tuesday.
Around 200 buses and 800 employees will take part in the protest, Sri Nilagiri Motor Employees’ Union informed the media on Monday.
On Thursday, the driver was brutally thrashed by passengers after he rammed the vehicle into a tourist bus on Puri-Konark Marine Drive Road, leaving 24 injured. He was admitted to a nearby hospital in a critical condition and succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment.
The association decided to launch the stir over alleged dilly-dallying by Konark police to lodged a complaint in this regard, sources said.
