Bhubaneswar: General secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Priyanka Gandhi will soon visit Odisha and work towards strengthening the party in the state.
According to sources, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik had a separate meeting with Priyanka while attending the ‘Chintan Shivir’ of the party at Udaipur, Rajasthan. Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Narasingha Mishra also attended the event.
On May 9, the senior leaders and none MLAs of the party had met Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi amid speculation of a possible change of guard and organisational restructuring in the state unit of the Congress. Rahul met senior leaders from Odisha individually and took their views on the reorganisation of the party in the state going forward.
The Congress has nine MLAs in the 147-member Odisha Assembly. The next Assembly election in the state is due in 2024.
