Bhubaneswar: The process for the Census 2021 across the country, including Odisha, began on Monday.
Briefing mediapersons here on Monday, joint director, Directorate of Census, Odisha, Prabhakar Barad said the pre-testing is being conducted in ward no-15 of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Pattamundai tehsil in Kendrapara district and Puintala tehsil in Balangir district. “The pre-testing is conducted to find out the problems in the enumeration of the population so that it will be rectified before the commencement of the actual census,” he added
Admitting that the process of the census in the state has been delayed, he said the pre-testing of house listing and the National Population Register (NPR) will be held in these three areas from August 12 to September 3.
The pre-test is the complete dress rehearsal of the entire process of Census and is proposed to be conducted in the selected sample units all over India during August and September this year.
The ensuing Census would revolutionize the data collection by testing the digital mode. The pre-test has to be done with utmost care as this serves as a pilot and helps in finalising the instruments, methods and processing of the actual Census.
