Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor and Chancellor of Universities Ganeshi Lal has appointed Prof Sanjay Kumar Nayak as vice-chancellor of Ravenshaw University.
Nayak will have a four-year team as the VC with effect from the date he assumes office or until further orders.
At present, he is working as the Director General (Chief Academic Officer) of Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Chennai.
Known for his pioneering work on eco-friendly composites, nanocomposites, biopolymers and value addition of plastics from e-waste, Nayak is the author of more than 450 research papers, 30 books/chapters and has more than 50 patents and registered product designs to his credit.
He is also the recipient of the ‘Distinguished Scientist Award’ in recognition of his contribution to polymer science and technology by the Asian Polymer Association (APA).
Apart from this, he was conferred with a Honorary Doctorate by Utkal University in 2017 for nation-building and contribution towards science and technology and ‘Commendable Faculty Award’ for research in material science and high citation index (as per Scopus) and the National Awards for Technology Innovations in petrochemicals and downstream plastics processing industry by the government of India.
A passionate educationist, Nayak holds a dual PhD in Science & Engineering and also a DSc Degree in “Advanced Thermoplastic Composites & Nanocomposites”.
He has more than 34 years of experience in various capacities in teaching, administration & research. He was also the Adjunct Professor for few star-rated universities.
