Rourkela: COVID-19 claimed a professor’s life at Rourkela’s National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Sundargarh district of Odisha.
The State Health & Family Welfare Department made an official announcement regarding the 52-year-old professor’s death today. The deceased was Professor of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department in the country’s premier institution
He was admitted to the Hi-Tech COVID Hospital in Rourkela for treatment after he was infected with the coronavirus a few days ago. Later, when his condition became worse, he was shifted to the Jaiprakash Hospital where he succumbed to the virus.
According to the Health & Family Welfare Department, he was also suffering from uncontrolled diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease. The professor’s last rites were performed at Vedvyas in Rourkela.
