Stepping up the tirade against BBC for its documentary on Narendra Modi, Hindu Sena protested outside the office of the media house here on Wednesday, forcing the government to beef up security.
Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were deployed outside the HT House on Kasturba Gandhi Road, where BBC India is housed.
As protesters of the right wing organisation approached the BBC office chanting ‘BBC leave India’ slogans, security forces seized several banners and placards targeting the British broadcaster.
Officials of Income Tax department have been conducting a survey operation in several BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai for the second straight day. It’s part of an investigation into alleged tax evasion against BBC in India.
Hindu Sena had protested outside the BBC office last month too, demanding its ban in India, after the release of the two-part documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’ — questioning then-Gujarat CM Modi’s role in the 2002 Godhra riots.
