New Delhi: The Centre has taken strong exception to the documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, directing social media platforms to block links to the controversial two-part series ‘India: The Modi Question’.
Now, the Hindu Sena has demanded a ban on the BBC documentary accusing it of an international conspiracy to tarnish the image of India and PM Modi.
Workers of the right-wing organisation have put up ‘ban BBC’ boards outside BBC’s Kasturba Gandhi Marg office here.
“BBC is a threat to the unity and integrity of the country. BBC should be banned immediately,” Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta told India Today.
The documentary has raised questions then-Gujarat CM Modi’s role in the 2002 Godhra riots.
The Union Ministry of External Affairs dismissed the documentary as a “propaganda piece” that lacks objectivity and reflects a “colonial mindset.”
BBC has faced ban in India in the past, most notably by the Indira Gandhi government during Emergency in 1975.
