New Delhi: Popular mobile game PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds (PUBG) and a few other video games such as Fortnite, Pokemon Go, Hitman have been declared as harmful for kids by Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR).
The commission has issued a notice that the games have an adverse effect on children’s brains.
“These games are full of misogyny, hate, deceit and vengeance and at an age where a child learns from that he or she sees, it may negatively impact their brain for their life,” the note issued by DCPCR stated.
Last month, a child in Mumbai committed suicide as his parents didn’t agree to buy him a phone worth Rs 37,000 which he wanted to use to play PUBG on. A minister from Gujarat had written to the HRD ministry seeking a ban the game.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi too spoke about PUBG recently while interacting with a parent who was worried about his son’s excessive gaming habits.
