Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police has made elaborate arrangements to provide better hospitality to the visitors during FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 in Odisha’s capital from January 13-29.
According to sources, a discussion was held on Tuesday between the police team and various transport associations, including auto stand members, Taxi, Rapido, Ola, and Uber, and presidents of bus and truck owners association in the presence of Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh, DCP Traffic S Sushree, ACP Traffic Swastik Panda, and IIC of a few police stations.
The transport associations were asked to ensure safe travel for the visitors during their respective rides. “The main objective is to provide a better experience in public transport to all visitors who will be coming to the city to witness world cup matches,” DCP Singh said in the meeting.
A heavy fine will be imposed on those found flouting the rules.
The DCP also highlighted that none should refuse a ride or demand an extra amount during any booking. “This is our time to provide service to our visitors and not think of ways to make profits,” he said.
Besides, the Commissionerate Police has also said formed an integrated command and control centre in Bhubaneswar to keep a vigil on the traffic situation. The police team, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) members, a quick response team, and other departments will remain at the centre.
