Puri: Police sealed the Punjabi Mutt on the southern side of the Shri Jagannath temple here in the presence of a local magistrate on Monday.
According to reports, police had raided the mutt on Sunday night following a tip-off that some criminals were forcibly using a room on its premises to peddle drugs. Police broke open the door of the room and seized some bottles of Corex cough syrup.
Notably, the mutt inmates has vacated the premises after their head (mahant) moved court against its demolition by the administration.
The district administration had sent a demolition notice to the mahant as the mutt is located within 75 metres of the temple’s boundary wall.
