Puri: The Puri district administration will impose a two-day curfew across the district to restrict the congregation of devotees at Bada Danda (Grand Road) during the Bahuda Yatra and Suna Besha in this pilgrim town in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The curfew will be imposed from 10 pm of June 30 and remain in force till 10 pm of July 2, Puri Collector Balwant Singh informed on Sunday.
The collector said no vehicle movement will be allowed in the district other than authorized vehicles and those carrying essential services/medical services during the curfew.
However, the following will not come under the purview of the curfew:
—Movement of sevayats, officials, Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) and others associated with rituals of the Lords.
—All medical establishments including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, medicine stores, movement of the ambulance and medical personnel.
—Movement of any person on medical or other emergencies.
—District and municipal administration/police/ Fire Services.
—Central and state government officials on emergency duty.
—Telecom services by service providers.
—Petrol pumps & LPG/ cooking gas distribution.
—ATMs.
—Water Supply, sanitation and sewerage workers.
—Electricity supply and distribution.
—Movement of goods and good carriers, whether loaded or unloaded.
—Industrial establishments, factories and construction activities.
—Marriages and Funerals with the permission of local authority.
—Any other activities allowed by the authority.
