Puri: The Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri will remain out of bounds for devotees for four hours on Wednesday for the Banakalagi rituals of the Lords.
According to sources, these secret rituals will be performed from 4 pm to 8 pm.
On this occasion, the deities will be decorated in different colours to restore their original look.
Dutta Mohapatra Sevakas perform ‘Banakalagi’ ritual around two times in a month. Different types of natural colours like Hingula, Haritala, Kasturi, Keshar, the glue of Kaintha are used to prepare Banaka, which is then spread over the sibling deities.
