Puri: After the recent incident of an attack on a tourist couple, Puri police issued a 24X7 tourist helpline number – 6370967100 for the safety of visitors.
The police instructed the owners of private buses and tourist buses to mention the helpline number in their buses.
Any tourist who faces any problem in the district can call on this number for help. This number will help the tourists for their protection, hoped Puri Police.
Awareness will be created among the bus drivers and helpers regarding good behavior with tourists, informed Puri SP K Vishal Singh
It may be mentioned here that a tourist couple from West Bengal alleged harassment by the staff of private bus service on February 1.
The couple, identified as Manisha Munshi and Rakchani Munshi, alleged that they were beaten by a bus driver for demanding to be dropped near Harihar Square.
Soon after, they had filed a complaint with Sea Beach police, and action was taken.
