Hyderabad: Telugu superstar Allu Arjun is among 23 persons named in the chargesheet filed by Hyderabad Police in connection with the stampede during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ at Sandhya Theatre a year ago.

Besides the film’s lead actor, the 100-page chargesheet includes names of theatre owners and management, who have been named as primary accused.

Allu has been named as Accused No. 11 (A-11) in the case, while security personnel

and event-related staff have also been included in the chargesheet.

Investigators pointed to serious shortcomings in planning and crowd management during the high-profile event on December 4, 2024, which claimed the life of a woman and left her young son seriously injured.

The chargesheet, filed by Chikkadpally police, mentions that a sudden surge of an overwhelmingly large crowd during the film’s premiere led to chaos, resulting in the tragic incident.

According to police, responsibility for ensuring public safety during such big events lies with the organisers. The chargesheet has detailed how inadequate arrangements and failure to regulate the crowd contributed to the deadly stampede.

Once the court takes cognisance of the chargesheet, it will examines the roles of those named in the incident and further legal proceedings will continue.
