Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a pardon for a murderer who had raped and tortured her ex-girlfriend for three-and-a-half hours, and stabbed her 111 times.
The reason for Putin granting 27-year-old Vladislav Kanyus clemency was because he fought for Russia in Ukraine.
Kanyus served less than a year of his 17-year prison sentence for murdering 23-year-old Vera Pekhteleva before he was freed and recruited into the Russian army.
Kanyus got vengeful after Vera broke up with him.
After raping Vera, Kanyus strangled her with a cable iron and killed her, according to The Sun.
Neighbours heard her scream and called the police several times, but there was bo response.
The horrific crime was revealed came after Vera’s mother Oksana saw photographs of Kanyus in military uniform holding a weapon.
“This was a blow at me. My child will rot in her grave and I’ve been deprived of everything — my life, any hope,” Oksana lamented.
“I don’t live, I exist. This simply finished me off, it just totally finished me off. I am a very strong person. But this lawlessness of our state just pushes me into a dead end. I don’t know what to do next,” she cried.
Blaming Putin for pardoning her daughter’s killer, Oksana is worried about her own safety now.
“How could a cruel murderer be given a weapon? Why is he sent to the front — to defend Russia? He is scum. He is not a human being… He can at any moment kill any of us,” Oksana said.
Putin’s decision to expunge Kanyus’ conviction by a Presidential decree on April 27 has been denounced by many others.
