Putin Says Daughter Inoculated With ‘First’ COVID-19 Vaccine
Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday said that one of his daughters has been inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine developed in the country.
Russia has developed the first vaccine in the world that offers “sustainable immunity” against coronavirus, Putin announced.
During a conference call with ministers, he said, “This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was registered in Russia. One of my daughters had this vaccine. I think in this sense she took part in the experiment.”
Earlier this month, Russia had expressed that it was hoping to launch mass production of a COVID-19 vaccine within weeks.
Last week, the World Health Organization had urged Russia to follow the established guidelines and go “through all the stages” vital for the development of a safe vaccine, news agency AFP reported.
