PVR Cinemas announced on Thursday its theatres will be reopening from July 30 with all staff fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
PVR said in a statement that its cinemas will resume operations in states and union territories which have allowed theatres to reopen.
Following the decrease in fresh COVID-19 cases post the second wave of the pandemic, states like Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have allowed cinema halls to reopen with COVID-appropriate guidelines.
PVR has introduced a unique ‘Jab Offer’ for customers, whereby one vaccinated guest will get a free ticket on select content and one F&B combo free with the purchase of another during the first week of reopening.
The multiplex chain made it clear that all standard operating procedures mandated by the central government will be followed and all safety and hygiene standards maintained.
To attract OTT-habituated crowds back to theatres, PVR said it will screen major Hollywood titles which are set to release in India in the next few weeks.
These upcoming releases include ‘The Suicide Squad’ (August 5), ‘Mortal Kombat’ (July 30), ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Devil Do It’ (August 13), ‘Promising Young Woman’ (August 6), ‘Old’ (August 13), ‘Fast & Furious 9’ (August 19) and ‘The Croods: A New Age and Nobody’ (August 27).
