Rourkela: NIT Rourkela has excelled in the ‘QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024’, securing 676th rank globally and 21st in India.
The QS Sustainability Rankings 2024, which featured around 1,400 universities from all over the world, listed 56 universities/institutes from India.
At No. 21 among all Indian institutes, NIT Rourkela has topped among the NITs.
The methodology used included indicators designed to measure an institution’s ability to tackle the world’s greatest environmental, social and governance (ESG) challenges.
A new entrant, NIT Rourkela was ranked for the first time for its efforts in sustainability.
“Our commitment lies in nurturing a campus culture that fully integrates sustainability into academic and daily pursuits. This milestone refers to our dedication to making a positive impact on the environment and society reaffirming the institution’s commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and sustainable practices. I acknowledge the diligent efforts of our students, faculty, and staff who conceptualized and implemented sustainability in their behaviour aiming towards a greener and more sustainable future,” said NIT Rourkela Director Prof. K Umamaheshwar.
