London: Britain’s 95-year-old Queen Elizabeth has tested positive for COVID-19. “Her Majesty is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week,” Buckingham Palace said on Sunday.
She is fully vaccinated against the virus.
Prince Charles, the queen’s eldest son, had also tested positive on February 10. He was found infected two days after meeting the queen at Windsor.
Notably, the UK is set to scrap all remaining COVID-19 restrictions next week.
On Saturday, the British government had that people with COVID-19 won’t be legally required to self-isolate starting next week.
“This will help to protect ourselves without restricting our freedoms,” Prime Minister Boris Johnson was quoted as saying by AP.
