Baripada: Concerned over the raging forest fire in Similipal National Park, queen Rashmi Rajya Laxmi Bhanj Deo and her daughter princess Akshita M Bhanj Deo of the erstwhile royal family of Mayurbhanj rushed to the forest to douse the flames in Bangiriposhi forest range on Sunday.
According to sources, the queen accompanied by her daughter arrived at the Talabandha village and requested the villagers to refrain from setting the forest on fire and make efforts to conserve the forest.
After dousing the fire in Talabandha forest, she went to Tangadhua, Raipala, Damodarpur, Kanachunda, Basipada, Nischinta and Badampur and doused the fire with the help of the villagers.

The fire has been raging in 18 places in northern parts of the Similipal. Six fire brigade teams along with 1100 fire personnel have been pressed into service to douse the flames.
