Berhampur: Cyber Police in Berhampur has registered a case against two youths for allegedly releasing fake question papers for constable recruitment examination in the social media.
The Cyber Crime and Economic Offences police station at Berhampur has registered the case on the basis of a report filed by sub-inspector Raj Kishore Patra of Berhampur Town police station. The accused include a reporter of a news channel at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district.
The SI, in his report, said he was deployed in Khallikote Unitary University, Berhampur as part of mobile and enforcement squad around the college during the examination for recruitment of Constables (Civil) 2022, on February 26.
He further said on receiving information about leakage of question papers of the examination on the social media, he checked his social media accounts and found a hyperlink generated by a news channel. The channel also transmitted a news highlighting leakage of question papers of the ongoing constable recruitment examination in Berhampur.
During inquiry from the reporter of the channel over phone by senior supervising officers, it was ascertained that thethat he had received the pictures of question papers from one Akhaya Pradhan of Kantiagada village under Rambha police limits in the district.
By using the same pictures of the question papers, he had made the viral news. Akshaya prepared the fake documents and shared the same with the reporter to create fake news, Patra’s report stated.
“Due to such activities of circulating false information in the social media, it created a widespread panic among lakhs of candidates and the general public. The misleading news caused a law and order situation inside the campus of Khallikote University where I was doing my assigned duty. I report this case for proper investigation to find out the exact number and role of the persons involved in the matter,” Patra said.
