Bhubaneswar: A day after the ghastly quintuple murder in Odisha’s Cuttack district, Mahanga police on Thursday took the accused Siba Sahu on a three-day remand.
According to reports, police will be recreating the crime scene. Police also look forward to find out how one man single-handedly managed to kill 5 persons in one room.
The accused had allegedly killed his brother and his family over a long-standing dispute over a patch of land. The deceased are Alekh Sahu (46), his Rashmi Rekha (41), their daughter Smruti Sandhya (19) and sons Smruti Sai (18) and Smruti Saurav (16) were found in a pool of blood.
Police as well as locals, including Alekh’s in-laws, are finding it difficult to believe that only one person was involved in the murders. Considering that even he children were grown ups, Alekh’s in-laws said there might have been some resistance from the family members while Siba was trying to kill them. Police will be probing all the angles of murder during the three-day remand period.
The accused had reportedly told the police during preliminary interrogation that after killing the 5 members, he had cut the veins of their hands and ankle to ensure that they do not survive and bleed to death.
