How many of us remember Helen Steiner Rice’s poem on friendship which we fondly memorised in our schooldays without really caring about what it really meant.
“Friendship is a priceless gift
That can’t be bought or sold,
But its value is far greater
Than a mountain made of gold”.
But every word of this stanga seems so close to us now and for all who have cherished the real value of friendship with time.
On this Friendship Day, let’s celebrate the true bond of brotherhood and love with quotes, which have inspired both young and old for generations.
C.S Lewis–
“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”
Muhammad Ali–
“Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It’s not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything.”
Mahatma Gandhi–
“With every true friendship, we build more firmly the foundations on which the peace of the whole world rests.”
Socrates–
“Be slow to fall into friendship; but when thou art in, continue firm & constant.”’
Martin Luther King–
“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
Mark Twain–
“Keep away from those who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you believe that you too can become great.”
Woodrow T. Wilson–
“Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together.”
Oscar Wilde–
“Anybody can sympathize with the sufferings of a friend, but it requires a very fine nature to sympathize with a friend’s success.”
Oprah Winfray–
“Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.”
Abraham Lincoln–
“Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends?”
