Rahul Gandhi Keeps Pre-Poll Promise, Sends Karate Uniforms For Girls In Odisha Orphanage
Bhubaneswar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s efforts at connecting directly with people during his election paid off when the Lok Sabha 2024 results were out and he won both the seats he had contested. But the true mettle of a politician lies in keeping his promises and that’s exactly what Rahul Gandhi has done.
The Congress leader has sent karate uniforms for the female inmates of the orphanage at Utkal Gaurab Madhusudan Das’ ancestral house at Satyabhamapur in Salipur block.
Rahul had visited the orphanage and spent some time with the girls on April 28 before addressing an election meeting at Kulia near Salipur. He was very impressed with Monalisha Sahoo, an inmate who did karate in front of him.
On being asked what they wanted, the girls told Rahul that they needed karate uniforms. Rahul did not forget his promise. The girls were pleasantly surprised when Rahul sent 15 pairs of karate uniforms through his representatives which were distributed among the girls on Monday. Caretaker of the orphanage Sandhya Rani Mallick said the girls were elated.
One of the girls, Ankita Samal is on top of the world because now she can participate in a karate competition in Nepal for which she was selected wearing a uniform. Out of the total 41 inmates at the orphanage, 28 girls are learning karate from Mohammad Rehmat of Paga, who has been training them free of cost for the past four years.
