New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming march, which will start in Manipur capital Imphal on January 14, has been renamed ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’.
The Manipur to Mumbai foot march, which was previously called ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’, will cover 15 states.
The decision to change the name was taken at Thursday’s meeting of general secretaries, state in-charges, state unit chiefs and Congress Legislature Party leaders chaired by party president Mallikarjun Kharge at the headquarters here.
“The message passed on by ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ across the country, we will take it forward with the help of this Yatra. During this visit, Rahul ji will present his views on social, economic and political justice before the public,” Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh told mediapersons.
He said the Congress is inviting all INDIA bloc leaders to participate in this yatra, and hoped that the march “will prove as impactful and transformative” as the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
Rahul will cover around 6,700 kilometres over 66 days, passing through 110 districts.
After north-eastern states, the yatra will cut through parts of east and north India before concluding in Maharashtra on March 20.
