Bhubaneswar: As many as 20 districts of Odisha are likely to experience rain and thunderstorm between 8 pm and 11 pm on Sunday night.
According to the latest weather bulletin of the Regional Meteorological Centre here, rainfall and light thunderstorm accompanied by lightning are likely in some parts of Angul, Balangir, Boudh, Cuttack, Deogarh, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Khordha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Puri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Sundargarh.
Amid this forecast, mercury soared over 40 degree Celsius in nine places on Sunday. While Sambalpur recorded the highest temperature of 43.6 degree C followed by Hirakud (43.1), Talcher (42.6), Jharsuguda (42.2), Balangir (42), Malkangiri (41), Sonepur (40.5), Bhawanipatna (40.5) and Angul (40.4).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 37.7 and 36.5 degree Celsius, respectively.
