Bhubaneswar: Amid incessant rain, the regional office of India Meteorological Department on Tuesday issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for 19 districts of Odisha till 5.30 in the evening.
The districts are Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul, Khurda, Puri, Malkangiri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada and Nabarangpur. People in these districts have been advised to take shelter in nearby buildings and other safe locations.
On the other hand, the low pressure area over central parts of Odisha is likely to trigger rainfall and thundershower in most parts of the state during the next 24 hours.
“Yesterday’s low pressure area over over Central parts of Odisha and neighbourhood now lies as a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood,” the Met office said.
One or two places in coastal Odisha may receive heavy rainfall under its influence, it added.
Sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough along and off Odisha coast, it said and advised fishermen to be cautious while venturing into sea.
