Bhubaneswar: With the well-marked low pressure area likely to concentrate into depression in 12 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for 16 districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 5.30 pm on Monday.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower accompanied by lightning is likely in some parts of Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nupada, Koraput, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonpur, Angul, Balasore and Malkangiri districts in 3 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Notably, the IMD has issued issued orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain (7 to 20cm) for isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak till 8.30 am on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is also likely at one or two places in Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Koraput.
The intensity of rain is likely to increase in next two days.
