Bhubaneswar: Rain accompanied by thundershower and lightning is likely to lash at least 13 districts of Odisha on Thursday afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack cities are also likely to be affected.
In a message issued at 10.35 pm, the IMD sounded a yellow warning for Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Balangir, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Bhadrak, Nayagarh, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), and Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city).
Light to moderate rain, thundershower and lightning with wind speed reaching 40 kmph may occur in some places of these districts in three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
