Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for seven districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till around 5 pm on Sunday.
Severe thunderstorms, lightning, rain with surface wind reaching 50 kmph may occur in parts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Nayagarh and Puri districts in next three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.

Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph) may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak districts.
Yellow warning
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) is also likely in the
afternoon/evening hours at isolated places in the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh and Keonjhar.
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at isolated places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Angul, Boudh, Rayagada and Dhenkanal.
