Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Depratment (IMD) has issued an orange warning for two districts of Odisha till around 3 pm on Thursday.
Moderate rain and thunderstorms with lightning may occur at isolated places in Cuttack and Khurda districts in 2 hours.
The weather agency further stated that the low-pressure area, which persists over westcentral & adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coasts, is expected to move west-northwestwards across North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha during the next 48 hours.
Under the influence of the system, heavy to very heavy rainfall (64.5 m to 204.4 mm) may occur in Malkangiri and Koraput districts on Thursday. Heavy rainfall (64.5 mm to 115.5 mm) is also expected in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi and Kandhamal on Friday. The met office has advised the fishermen to not venture into the sea along and off Odisha coasts till Friday.
This apart, light to moderate rainfall or thundershower may occur at many places across the state over the next six days.
