Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department here on Sunday issued nowcast warning for four districts of Odisha till 2 pm.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning is likely in some parts of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda and Puri in 3 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The IMD has also forecast heavy rainfall in the coastal district of Puri on July 8 (Monday), which is celebrating the two-day annual Rath Yatra of the Lords of Shree Jagannath Temple. Rainfall activity may increase in Puri district with the likely formation of a cyclonic circulation over north-west Bay of Bengal around Sunday. Isolated places in the district could also witness heavy rainfall activity during the period.
Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in Koraput and Malkangiri on Sunday. Heavy rainfall is also likely at Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Kandhamal.
