Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to be lashed by rain for the next two days under the influence of a western disturbance, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
Light to moderate rain is likely to occur in the northern and north western regions as the state prepares to usher in the New Year.
As per the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, light rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Nuapada till Sunday morning.
Similarly, shallow to moderate fog may occur at one or two places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar and Angul districts.
The weather agency issued yellow warning of dense fog at one or two places over Kalahandi, and Kandhamal districts during the period.
It said light rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal , Koraput, and Malkangiri till the morning of Monday.
The IMD has also predicted a drop in night temperature across the state from December 30, leading to colder conditions. New Year’s celebrations are likely to be chilly.
There will be no large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) for next two days. Thereafter, night temperature may fall by 2 to 4 degree Celsius during next 3 days in the state.
