Rain To Pound Odisha’s Twin Cities In 3 Hours; Check IMD’s Orange Warning

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning for some places in 14 districts of Odisha till 6.30 pm.

This weather condition will prevail in Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Jajpur and Bhadrak during the next three hours.

People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lighting strikes.

Notably, the IMD has issued ‘orange warning’ for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur and Balangir during the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at isolated places in Boudh, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Sonepur, Nabarangpur, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Balasore and Angul.

The orange warning continues for the subsequent 24 hours with the MeT office predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Deogarh. Heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Puri, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kalahandi, Boudh, Nabarangpur and Nuapada on July 4.
