Bhubaneswar: Conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from remaining parts of Odisha around October 23 and dry weather will prevail over the state from October 22, the India Metrological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely at a few places in coastal Odisha and at one or two places in interior Odisha till 8.30 am on Thursday. Similar weather conditions will prevail at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Puri and Jagatsinghpur during the subsequent 24 hours, the Met office said.
“With likely setting in of northeasterly winds in the lower tropospheric levels over the Bay of Bengal and extreme south Peninsular India, the southwest monsoon is likely to withdraw from the entire country around October 26. Simultaneously, the northeast monsoon rains are also likely to commence over southeast Peninsular India from around October 26,” it added.
