New Delhi: Taking a giant stride in challenging the social stigma around periods started by Zomato, former Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Rajasthan Royals have signed a sponsorship deal with ‘Niine’ a sanitary pad brand.
The back of the players’ jerseys will sport the ‘Niine’ logo for the tournament, being held in the United Arab Emirates from September 19.
Rajasthan Royals said they hoped the Niine brand sponsorship will “help educate men… on a grand scale,” reported The New Indian Express (TNIE) quoting AFP.
It may be recalled that Zomato recently announced a 10-day period leave in a year for women, sparking a nationwide debate.
“Cricket undoubtedly is the most-watched sport in the country and provides the perfect platform to address health and drive social change,” the Royals were quoted as saying in the report.
“Rajasthan Royals are poised to be the vehicle that will help educate men through the IPL 2020 season by building not only awareness but also understanding on a grand scale,” the statement added.
