Barpali: Rajeev Lochan Hota, former Bijepur MLA, passed away on Thursday evening. He was 86.
He was admitted to a private hospital in Bargarh on Thursday evening when his health deteriorated. He breathed his last at 6 pm.
His last rites will be performed on Friday, family sources said. He is survived by three sons.
Hota, born in 1935, was active in politics from his student days. He became the Barpali block chairman in 1967. He was Bijepur MLA from 1980 to 1985 after winning on a Congress ticket. He also served as chairman of Odisha Markfed in 1983.
