Mumbai: Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s gory action movie ‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, had received mixed reviews.
Some lauded Ranbir for his intense performance, while others criticised the actor for promoting violence and bloodshed.
Sharing an update about the second instalment of the film, Ranbir revealed that he will be playing the antagonist as well as protagonist.
The actor further revealed that ‘Animal’ is going to be a three-part franchise.
“The director (Sandeep) is right now making another film (Spirit). We should start that film in 2027. It’s a bit away,” Ranbir shared in an interview with Deadline Hollywood.
“He (Sandeep) just kind of flirted with what he really wants to do with the movie. He wants to make it in three parts. The second part is called Animal Park,” informed Ranbir.
“We have been sharing ideas from the first film itself. How he wants to take the story forward. It’s very exciting because now I get to play two characters, the antagonist and the protagonist. So extremely exciting project and an extremely original director, and I’m very excited to be a part of it,” the actor added.
‘Animal’, which was released on December 1, 2023, also featured Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri and Bobby Deol. The film collected over Rs 400 crore at the domestic box office.
Ranbir is currently shooting for two big-budget films — Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love & War’ and Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’.
