Kendrapada: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a demonstration at Kudanagri in Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Sunday demanding immediate steps to arrest those involved in the alleged attempt to rape a minor college girl.
A delegation of BJP visited the college where the girl is a Plus II student and held discussion with the authorities regarding the circumstances in which the incident took place four days ago.
The BJP leaders and activists also staged a demonstration outside Kudanagri police station raising slogans and holding placards and banners.
Alleging police inaction, state BJP spokesperson Tejeswar Parida lamented that the accused is yet to be arrested though four days have elapsed since the incident. He also warned that the saffron party will intensify its protest and call for a shutdown if those involved in kidnapping the girl and attempting to rape her.
It may be noted here that, the Plus II girl student was allegedly kidnapped from the college after being drugged and then an attempt was made to rape her at a secluded place.
The family members of the girl later lodged a complaint with the police and investigation into the incident is underway.
