Bhubaneswar: Now, Bhubaneswar denizens can rate the parks in the city through a public space tool.
Developed by team design from Smart Cities Fellowship and integrated in Bhubaneshwar.Me App undertaken by the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) with help of Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MoHUA), the tool help people rate the parks on parameters like safety, cleanliness, access, comfort, and access.
According to sources, Bhubaneswar is the first city in India selected by the team to take up this citizen-centric tool. It will be extended to other cities with help of MoHUA.
BSCL CEO Prem Chandra Chaudhary and Smart Cities Mission Director Kunal Kumar have also given their personal inputs in developing this tool.
The rating of parks will help authorities to take appropriate improvements and actions. Heritage monuments are also visible in the feature along with option to see events, facilities and give suggestions. Heritage and streets will be included for rating in the next stage, the sources added.
To activate parks and engage citizens, three different activities were organized at Madhusudan Das Park here. A hunt race with solving clues to know about the park was conducted, besides a painting competition for children on theme ‘My Dream Park’. A design session to collect citizen inputs was also undertaken with introduction of key aspects such as safety, comfort, access, activity and usability.
Many citizens and locals participated in the event.
Team Design Shubhashweti Sinha, Mansi Naidu and Kirti Kuwale from India Smart Cities Fellowship 2019 curated this activity and developed the feature of rating in Bhubaneswar.Me App of the city.
