Rath Yatra: 17 More Logs Arrive In Odisha’s Puri For Chariot Construction

Puri: Amid the ongoing preparations for the ensuing Rath Yatra, 17 more logs for the construction of the chariots of the sibling deities of Jagannath Temple arrived in Puri on Monday.

According to sources, the logs of Shaura and Asana have been brought from Nayagarh Forest Range.

Notably, 79 logs have been reached Puri in three phases for the chariot construction work.

The temple administration had received 49 logs in the first phase and 13 in the second phase.

A total of 865 logs are required for building the three chariots.

On the schedule for construction of the three chariots, SJTA chief administrator Krishan Kumar on Saturday had said all preparations will continue as per traditions. The temple administration will again review the evolving situation on May 5, he added.

The construction work usually begins on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, which falls on May 15 this year.

Meanwhile, public darshan at the 12th-century shrine has been suspended till May 15.
