Rath Yatra Stay: Sad But Can’t Be Helped, Says Gajapati Maharaj

Puri: In his initial reaction after the Supreme Court stayed the Puri Ratha Yatra on Thursday, Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingha Deb said, “Mahaprabhu’s devotees across the world will feel sad. But everyone has to obey the SC verdict. It’s mandatory to obey.”

Gajapati Maharaj, who is the head of the Sri Jagannath Temple Management Committee, further said that the committee will hold a meeting on Friday and then discuss the matter with Govardhanpeetha Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati.

“As Rath Yatra can’t be conducted outside, we will seek the suggestion of Shankaracharya on the feasibility of conducting rituals inside Srimandir premises,” he added.
