Bhubaneswar: Seven Ravan effigies will be torched on Vijaya Dashami, marking the end of the Durga Puja festivities, in Bhubaneswar on October 2.
According to the Twin City Commissionerate Police, ‘Ravan Podi Utsav’ will be held at Naharkanta (under Pahal Police Station), Baramunda (under Khandagiri Police Station), Koradakanta (under Badagada Police Station), Bankual (under Badagada Police Station), Gopalpur (under Info-Valley Police Station), KIITS Road (under Infocity Police Station) and Football Ground (under Kapilaprasad Airfield Police Station).
The Fire Service department has given permission for the burning of the effigy of the 10-headed demon king Ravana, which symbolises the victory of good over evil, at these places.
A total of 193 puja pandals has come up in the city for which 61 platoons of police force to smooth conduct of the celebrations.
