Ravindra Jadeja To Undergo Knee Surgery, Doubtful For T20 World Cup
Dubai: A day after he was ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup, the news on the Ravindra Jadeja front is not too encouraging.
The 33-year-old Jadeja will have to undergo surgery on his injured right knee, which will keep him out of action for an indefinite period.
PTI quoted a BCCI official as saying that Jadeja’s injury is quite serious.
“He is supposed to undergo a major knee surgery and will be out of action for an indefinite period of time. At this point, if one goes by the assessment of NCA’s medical team, one can’t put a timeline on his imminent international comeback,” the official said.
Though coach Rahul Dravid said on Saturday that it was too early to rule the allrounder out of the upcoming T20 World Cup, chances of the allrounder playing in the mega ICC event in Australia are negligible as it is just a month-and-a-half away.
“Jadeja has injured his knee.. he is obviously ruled out of the Asia Cup. He is under the care of the medical team, he is going to see the doctors, see the experts. The World Cup is still a fair bit away, and we don’t want to jump to any conclusions and rule him out or rule him in. We’ll see how it goes,” Dravid said on the eve of India’s Super Four clash with Pakistan.
Jadeja has been bothered by the right knee for some time now, having been forced to miss the ODI series during India’s tour of the West Indies in July.
