Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RBC) saved itself from another defeat by keeping things under control to win the Tuesday match against Mumbai Indians (MI) by 14 runs. The much-needed victory has kept their chances alive to qualify for the play-offs.
Batting first, opener Manan Vohra gave a decent start by scoring 45 runs. Skipper Virat Kohli (32) and Brendon McCullum (37) added more runs to help RCB cruise past a decent score.
RCB posted a total of 167 runs on board at the loss of seven wickets.
For Mumbai, Hardik Pandya took three wickets by conceding 28 runs.
While batting, Mumbai lost three wickets in four overs, almost giving away the game then. Kieron Pollard (13), JP Duminy (23) and Pandya brothers -Hardik and Krunal, tried keeping the momentum alive. But Mumbai Indians could only manage 153 runs for seven wickets.
While, RCB are now in the fifth spot in the points table, Mumbai are placed seventh with four points from eight matches.
