Bhubaneswar: Union Tribal Affairs Minister and lone BJP MP from Odisha Jual Oram on Sunday offered to step down, if the allegations of mismatch in his poll expense statement were found true.
He claimed that there was nothing wrong in his affidavit and termed the BJD’s accusation as politically motivated.
He further alleged that the regional party was trying to cover-up the dubious poll funding charges against its president by finding faults in his poll expenditure.
Jual’s response came a day after the ruling BJD accused the Sundargarh MP of misrepresenting facts in poll expense affidavit submitted to Election Commission of India after 2014 elections.
“I am prepared to face any probe. But the CM must first resign on moral grounds for submitting false affidavit,” he said.
BJP vice-president Sameer Mohanty, in a press conference organised here at the party headquarters, alleged that BJD was even violating the constitutional norms to prove the allegations wrong.
