Bhubaneswar: It’s never too late to find love and get married! Saktipada Mishra of Gogua village in Mahakalapada block of Odisha’s Kendrapada district and Tejaswini Mandal, 65 and 64 years old respectively, found love just when they felt life had nothing more to offer them.
In a real-life ‘Baghban’ Tejaswini’s three sons had neglected her after her husband’s death four years back, leaving her to fend for herself in the village while they moved to the city. She met Saktipada met while working in a farmland.
A loner himself, Saktipada proposed marriage to Tejaswini last week and she agreed. Both tied the nuptial knot in a simple ceremony at Jagannath Temple at Kakatpur on December 5 in presence of priests.
“I had taken her to the police station and hospital after an attempt was made to kill her. We shared our grievance with each other and fell in love in the process,” claimed Saktipada.
The photographs and videos of the marriage have gone viral on social media. Netizens have showered the couple with love and congratulatory messages.
As per sections 7 and 15 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, it is the duty of children to look after their parents. Sons have no right to mistreat or evict their parents from the house. A senior citizen has the legal right under the law to evict adult children from the home if required.
