Record Single-Day Spike Of 2993 COVID-19 Cases In Odisha; Khurda Dist Leads With 606
Bhubaneswar: Khurda continued to remain the COVID-19 hotspot as it reported the highest 606 positive cases and the state witnessed the record single-day spike of 2993 cases in the last 24 hours.
Khurda was followed by the previous hotspot Ganjam with 279 cases. The other districts that registered 100 plus cases are Cuttack (158), Puri (156), Nayagarh (153), Rayagada (137), Jajpur (121), Mayurbhanj (120), Balasore (115) and Sambalpur (104), according to the I&PR department.
Similarly, Bargarh reported 98 COVID-19 positive cases, Koraput 95, Bhadrak 92, Malkangiri 85, Sundargarh 70, Nabarangpur 68, Keonjhar 63, Balangir 62, Dhenkanal 60, Kandhamal 58, Jagatsinghpur 46, Gajapati, Jharsuguda and Kendrapada (43 each), Sonepur (40), Kalahandi (36), Angul (21), Nuapada (11), and Boudh and Deogarh (nine each).
Of the new cases reported from across the state, 1879 were detected in quarantine centres and 1114 were local contact cases.
After the latest addition, the COVID-19 tally in Odisha rose to 78,530 on Sunday. With 409 deaths and 52276 recoveries so far, the state has 25792 active cases at present.
