Cuttack: One of the foresters, who was absconding after the STF recovered the skeleton of an elephant in Odisha’s Cuttack district, was arrested on Monday.
The STF had found the skeleton of the elephant from Gopapur forest section under Badamba range in June. Police arrested several persons in this connection. But foresters Pradip Parida and Manoj Das who were also wanted for their alleged involvement in the killing of the elephant were absconding.
Later, Pradip was granted anticipatory bail in two separate cases from the court. He had come to join duty in Khuntuni forest range on Monday.
On coming to know about it, Khntuni DFO informed the police who went to the office and detained Pradip in the police station. The forester was forwarded to the court on Tuesday.
The other forester, Manoj, is still absconding while police have launched a manhunt to trace him.
