After investigators probing the Red Fort blast came to know that the suspects connected to the Hyundai i20 used in the November 10 explosion were in possession of another car, Delhi Police launched a massive operation to trace a red-coloured Ford EcoSport car, PTI reported quoting a police source.

The red Ford EcoSport, with registration number DL10CK0458, is registered under the name of Umar Un Nabi, also known as Dr Umar Mohammad, who was listed as the second owner of the vehicle.

The car was registered at Delhi’s Rajouri Garden RTO on November 22, 2017.

Umar reportedly used a fake address in northeast Delhi to acquire the vehicle, according to India Today. The current whereabouts of the car are unknown.

An alert was sounded across all police stations, posts and border checkpoints in Delhi to trace the red EcoSport which is suspected to be linked to the explosion near Red Fort. Delhi Police have deployed several teams to find the vehicle. Neighbouring UP and Haryana Police have also been alerted about the operation, and asked to remain vigilant and assist in the search.

Twelve people lost their lives in deadly blast near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro station at 6.52 pm on Monday.

The suspect Umar un-Nabi was a doctor from Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama and is allegedly linked to the ‘white-collar’ terror module busted in Faridabad on November 9. Five doctors from Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana and UP have been arrested.
